COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A crowdfunding campaign to help relocate the Children’s Museum of Branch County to the Taylor’s building in downtown Coldwater has far surpassed its $50,000 goal.
City of Coldwater Economic Development Coordinator Audrey Tappenden told the Downtown Development Authority on Wednesday morning that over 72 donors have put them at least $22,000 over what they needed to earn a $50,000 matching grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Public Spaces Community Places grant program.
The campaign to raise funds officially closes on Friday.
Tappenden said there has a number of presentations over the last six weeks to local organizations and service clubs.
The campaign has been offered through the Michigan-based crowdfunding platform Patronicity.
Workers continue to renovate the inside and outside of the Taylor’s Building.
Funds from the campaign and community support are being used for numerous improvements at the new museum.
Donations can made by visiting patronicity.com/cmbc.
