COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Brancn County Board of Commissioners formally approved giving $150,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds to the Kellogg Community College EMS training program for 2023 during their regular meeting on Tuesday.
The program is designed to guarantee additional EMS workers would be assigned to Branch County and is part of a partnership with Kellogg Community College and Life Care Ambulance..
Administrator Bud Norman presented a list of requests for use of the ARPA money the county has received during Monday’s work session.
Top uses include EMS Training, Probate Detention, Employee Recruitment and Retention and County-wide internet.
It’s felt that probate detention funds are needed since out of county placement costs will be increasing.
Branch County’s share of ARPA funds in this round came out to $8.4 million and Norman told Commissioners on Monday they can fill 60 percent of the funding requests.
