COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Board of Health for the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency approved a three year contract with Health Officer Rebecca Burns during their monthly meeting on Thursday.
The agreement would run from January 1, 2023 through December 31, 2025. Either party may terminate the agreement with or without cause upon giving a 60-day notice to the other party of the intention.
The agreed upon base salary by both parties would be $100,000 per year.
Under terms of this contract, the Health Officer would be granted any percentage increase in pay as approved by the Board of Health for agency employees.
Performance evaluations are included as part of the agreement and it was agreed by both parties that the Health Officer position would be a full-time position.
The board’s Health Program, Policy, and Appeals Committee recommended to the full board that they renew the contract.
Burns was only given a one year contract renewal last year when she was seeking a three year extension.
While she had the support of five of the six board members last year, her critics felt she had overreached her authority during the COVID-19 pandemic and was dishonest.
In addition on Thursday, the Health Board approved five percent across-the-board pay increases for agency employees.
