COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Better late than never. The new press box at Cardinal Field was occupied for the first time during Friday nights Coldwater High School home football game against Jackson Northwest.
Temporary arrangements had to be made by school officials when the press box was not ready for the home opener three weeks ago against Marshall.
The new press box is just part of several improvements that have been made to Cardinal Field over the last year. That work included the installation of a new all-purpose synthetic turf football field as well as a new track.
The new field and track were funded with a $1 million Larsen Unitrust gift to the school district as well as a portion of $6 million in state bonds that paid for other needed building, technology, and security improvements.
Coldwater Board of Education members expressed their displeasure with the construction manager of the football press box project in June when they found out there was a possibility it would not be ready for the first home game.
