MARSHALL, MI (WTVB) – The former State Farm regional center in Marshall will go on the auction block next week.
Calhoun County Treasurer Christine Schauer says the auction will take place next Friday, September 30, 2016 with registration starting at 10:00 a.m. and bidding at 12 noon.
The initial minimum bid will be $245,500 which is the amount of back taxes that were owed on it when the property was foreclosed on April 1, 2016. The current 2016 taxes owed to the City of Marshall must also be paid by the successful bidder.
Schauer says putting the 15 acre property up for auction is their best chance at getting it back into productive use and back on the tax rolls.
Potential bidders must present a $50,000 cashier’s check at the time of registration.
The property has been vacant since April of 2006.
