Lawrence Earl Stevens (“Larry”), 63, of Burlington, MI, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at Ascension Borgess Hospital, Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Cremation has taken place and a private interment will take place at Burr Oak Cemetery in Athens. The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City.
Larry was born October 15, 1959, to James and Myrna (Williams) Stevens, in Battle Creek, Michigan. On September 29, 1984, he married Theresa Ann Cochran in Las Vegas, Nevada. Larry was employed as a stock car fabricator and mechanic in Bullhead City, Arizona until his family moved back to Michigan, where he became employed at various forklift maintenance facilities, the first one being Mid State Industrial and the last Alta Equipment Company.
Larry especially enjoyed the love from his children and grandchildren, whether it be by spending time together, a phone call or message. He particularly enjoyed it when they’d join him at his happy place, the races or driving unnecessary distances for good food.
Larry’s greatest passion in life was building, maintaining, and watching stock cars, most particularly late models. He was well known for his fabrication work, car set up and he was always available to offer his helpful hints. Larry was also a wonderful carpenter and very meticulous in his tasks.
Larry is survived by his wife, Theresa Stevens of Burlington; his children: Michelle (Nate Bolton) Cochran-Stevens of Henderson, NV, Jeremy (Tina) Seaman and Brittney Stevens of Battle Creek, MI; grandchildren: Micah, Zoee and Logan Bolton, Samantha (Mike) Woodman, Makenna Seaman, Malachi, Blake, and Emmaline Danku; a special “granddaughter” Haley L. Engblom; great-grandchild, Elijah Woodman; siblings, Lori (Juan Jimenez) Walters of Battle Creek and Lincoln (Tina) Stevens, of Athens. In his immediate family he was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, a sister, his mother-in-law, and an infant granddaughter.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald Charities-Ann Arbor, 1600 Washington Heights, Ann Arbor, MI 48104 in memory of his infant granddaughter, Macie Michelle Danku.
