UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – A tradition in the Village of Union City will continue this holiday season.
The Village is now accepting submissions for youngster under the age of 18 or up to age 19 if they are still in high school for the Union City Giving Tree.
Forms are available at the Union City village office if you have a child in need this holiday season. All forms are due back to the Village office by Wednesday, November 30.
The child must live in or attend school in the Village of Union City and the family must have a genuine financial need for gifts for their children this Christmas.
Last year, the Union City community donated 351 gifts to 57 children and 21 families through the Giving Tree program in hopes of brightening the season for those in need.
Jason McBride at State Farm Insurance, Southern Michigan Bank and Trust, Heator Insurance, Merchants True Value and Vozar Insurance provided 10 holiday dinners to families as well. Each child received a minimum of five gifts.
Those who want to help sponsor an area youngster by selecting a tag off the Giving Tree which is put up every year in the village office. Personal information is not shared with sponsors.
