Virginia Ellen (Walker) Avery, 91, passed away Monday, November 7, 2022.
Cremation has taken place and a private family burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Girard at a later date.
Virginia was born May 28, 1931 on the Walker Family Farm near Horton, Michigan. She attended Jackson High school graduating in 1949.
On October 7, 1950 she married the love of her life Darrell Avery, who was working out of The Dairy Department at Michigan State University.
Virginia’s family, Herbert and Ruth Walker raised, “Guernsey” Dairy and show cattle. Virginia had her show cattle, Faith, Hope and Charity. Virginia accepted Jesus as her savior as a teenager and tried to live her life with God as her guide. She was a strong supporter of 4-H and was a 28 year 4-H leader. She and Darrell were also longtime supporters of the Branch County Jr. Livestock association.
She was a Girard Methodist Sunday school teacher from 1950-1960 for the younger children. Virginia retired in 1999 from Branch County Soil Conservation after 25 years. Virginia attended many farm machinery product trainings along with her husband Darrell and was always supportive of his agricultural equipment work.
Virginia and Darrell had 2 children, Carole and Robert. Carole married Raymond From Jr. and lives in Gilbert Arizona. Robert “Bob” passed away on December 10, 2001. Bob married Jayann Lyon. Virginia’s mother and father along with her loving brother Ralph Walker also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband Darrell, daughter Carole (Ray) From, 4 grandchildren Tara (Dustin) Little, Corey (Becky) From, Brady (Anna) From, and Matthew (Margie) Avery; 12 great grandchildren Brooklyn, Vivi, RJ, and Emmy Little, Makayla, Connor, Madison From, and Camryn From, Tay, Matthew, Kyle, and Dylan Avery and 4 step-great grandchildren Taylor, Theresa, Chase, and Camryn.
We thank God for all our many many family and friends. We especially thank Drews Place of Coldwater and their caring staff who have become part of our family.
