COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater boys varsity soccer team improved to 2-0 in the Interstate 8 Conference Thursday night, shutting out Pennfield 5-0. The Cardinals built up a 4-0 halftime lead, thanks to three goals from Mana Ahmed. One was unassisted, while the two others were assisted by Jonathon Brownell and Mohamed Saleh. Mohamed Nagi scored the other first half goal, assisted by Brandon Cortes. Cameron Barnes closed out the scoring for Coldwater with 13 minutes to play in the game on a direct kick from 20 yards out.
The Cardinals outshot Pennfield 19-2, as Balal Nasser made 2 saves in goal for his 6th shutout of the season.
With the win, Coldwater improves to 8-1-1 on the season. They will play a non-conference match at Sturgis Saturday morning, before returning to conference action at Parma Western Monday.

—MIDDLE SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL—
The Coldwater 8th B team won at Harper Creek 2-0 (25-7, 25-10) for their first win of the season. Leading the team on the serving line was Allysa Stevens 15 points 13aces, Joselyn Salto with 5 points 4 aces, Lissbet Ramos with 5 points one ace and Carly Gebbink 4 points 2 aces. The girls played strong at the net. Alyssa Fisher and Annabelle Kling added 2 assists each. The girls will host Parma Western at Tuesday 4:30.
The Coldwater 8th grade A team also won 2-0 (25-13 27-25). Leading the team on the serving line was Alyssa Bach with 8 points 4 aces, Victoria Gonzalez with 8 points and Mia Rzepka with 7 points. Kaia Donay was strong at the net with 4 kills and 3 blocks, Madison Beckhusen with 4 kills and Abby Herman with 2 kills one block. The girls will host Parma Western on Tuesday.The Bronson 7th grade volleyball team beat Mendon 25-16, 25-17, 25-18, 25-17, and 25-18.
