COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners appointed Steve Weigt to the Maple Lawn Board on a 4-1 vote Tuesday after there was a tie vote during the last meeting.
Commissioners Jon Houtz, Tom Matthew, Leonard Kolcz and Tim Stoll voted for Weight while Randall Hazelbaker cast his vote for current board member Bob Montgomery who was seeking a fifth term on the board.
Kate Haberl was the other candidate for the board position.
Kolcz switched his vote to Weigt after voting for Montgomery during the October 25 meeting when the four Commissioners present were split between Montgomery and Weigt.
Commissioner Tom Matthew was unable to attend that meeting.
There was some confusion as to how to proceed after the tie vote two weeks ago. Following a recess, Administrator Bud Norman said another vote will have to be taken at a future meeting.
Weigt’s first meeting as a member of the Maple Lawn Board will be next Tuesday.
