BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Commissioner Jon Houtz was re-elected on Tuesday as he was the only Commissioner to face an Election Day challenge.
The Republican incumbent defeated Democratic challenger Chris Boger 2,327 to 937.
Fellow incumbent Commissioners Tim Stoll, Randall Hazelbaker and Tom Matthew all ran unopposed while Alan McClellan ran unopposed after winning the Republican Primary in August.
Union City will have a new Village President as William Avery was denied a fourth four-year term on Tuesday.
James Hurley defeated Avery 294 to 231 in a rematch of the 2018 election when Avery won by six votes. Avery was first elected as Village President in 2010.
In a crowded six candidate race for two seats on the Bronson School Board, Janet Byler and Jordan Houtz won six year terms on the board as they were the top two finishers.
Byler has been serving as the board president. Board Vice President Brian Eley finished fourth in the balloting.
