BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Bronson native Jonathan Lindsey was elected to the Michigan State Senate on Tuesday.
He will represent the newly created 17th State Senate district after defeating Democrat Scott Starr of Coldwater. As of early Wednesday morning, Lindsey had collected 65 percent of the vote.
Lindsey will take over as Branch County’s representative in the State Senate from Mike Shirkey who was term limited.
Meanwhile, Republican incumbent Andrew Fink is going back to the State House for another term after he defeated Democratic challenger Andrew Watkins by an almost three-to-one margin. As of early Wednesday morning, Fink collected 73 percent of the vote in the newly created 35th District.
