COLDWATER, MI (WTVB0 – The Branch Intermediate School District Board of Education approved a resolution Wednesday which establishes a Special Education Capital Projects Fund.
Business Manager Diane Shiery says $50,000 would be transferred from the special education fund to the capital projects fund for this school year. The administration wanted to set up this fund to save on the expense on the replacement of the parking lot.
Superintendent Joe Lopez said other local school business managers and superintendents did not have a problem. By setting the money aside, the district would also save money by not having to pay prevailing wages.
In other business, Vocational Education Director Jamie Engel gave an update on the construction of the new swine barn which is almost finished. He said an open house will be held October 1, 2016 from 4:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
