QUINCY TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A kitchen fire which destroyed a two story log home in Quincy Township on Wednesday afternoon has been determined to accidental in nature.
Quincy firefighters were dispatched to 250 North Briggs Road at approximately 12:45 p.m.
Quincy and Coldwater firefighters found heavy fire going throughout the home.
Quincy fire officials say the intense heat and the extreme fire load from the log timbers made conditions very difficult to bring the fire under control. Two nearby exposure buildings suffered minor siding damage but were able to be saved as well as their contents. Water supply assistance was requested from Allen, Reading, Lakeland and Fremont fire departments.

The fire is believed to have originated from a countertop appliance that was in use just prior to the fire. Fire quickly extended to the cabinets above and spread across the wood plank interior walls.
The property was fully insured. No occupant or firefighter injuries were reported. Firefighters cleared the scene around 7:00 pm.
Also assisting at the scene was Quincy Police, Branch County Sheriff’s Department, Lifecare Ambulance and Consumers Energy.
