COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) -In boys tennis Monday, Coldwater swept the singles matches and earned a 4-4 tie with Parma Western on Monday night in a matchup of state ranked teams in Division Three. Coldwater is ranked fifth while Parma is the seventh ranked team in the state in the latest Michigan High School Tennis Coaches Association poll.
Shane O’Grady was down 5-2 and match point in the third set at number two singles before saving that match point and then winning five straight games to preserve the overall team tie. Austin Butler and Porter Skidmore remain undefeated for the season. Kameron Miller won his match in three sets at number one singles 6-1, 6-7, 6-4.
Coldwater hosts Jackson Northwest on Wednesday.

Quincy’s 3-0 start has earned the Orioles a top ten ranking in the Michigan Associated Press High School Football Poll. The Orioles are ranked 10th in Division 6 as they get ready for Friday nights game at Union City. Schoolcraft is ranked fourth in Division 6 while Climax-Scotts is third in Division 8 and Battle Creek St. Philip is fourth in the 8-Man football rankings.
—GIRLS GOLF—
Coldwater sent a mixture of Varsity and JV players to events at the Lake James Golf Course on Saturday and the Cascades Golf Course on Monday. They finished 5th out of nine teams Saturday and 8th out of 15 teams on Monday.
Fremont hosted the event on Saturday and Coldwater was led by Jayla Goodwing with a 103, Gabriel Boston shot a 109, Elloree Madden had a 118, Abby Coffing carded a 119 and Jena Beckhusen rounded out Saturday’s scoring with a 135.
On Monday, Coldwater was led by Claire Sheppard who had a 10th place finish and earned a medal with a round of 98. Molly Smith shot a 104, Hunter Jenkot had a 106, Micki Slack shot a 118 and Abby Coffing rounded the scoring with a 120.
Coldwater’s JV squad traveled to Cedar Farms on Monday for a Jamboree and came away with a 2nd place finish. Kalamazoo Hackett won the event with a 190, Coldwater shot 210, Marshall had 213, Lakeview had 214, and Gull Lake shot a 220.
Coldwater was led by Ryleigh Collins who had a 51, Elloree Madden shot a 52, Morgan Beckhusen had a 53, Emma Beckhusen and Avery Volkmer each had 54’s, Melissa Vozar shot a 55, and Mackenzie Koch had a 61.
—GIRLS VOLLEYBALL—
Coldwater finally got to play again Monday night after 13 days off. They took part in a tri-match at Charlotte. The Cardinals defeated Williamston 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-6) and also defeated Charlotte 3-0 (25-10, 25-19, 25-11.) Coldwater is now 15-3-2 for the season. They will host Marshall in their first conference match of the season on Wednesday.

The Bronson 7th grade volleyball team opened league play Monday night by defeating White Pigeon in five games.
—MIDDLE SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY—
The Legg Middle School boys finished second last Saturday at the Centreville Invitational in a meet that featured over 100 runners. Cameron Linton was 7th while Drayke Fitch was 9th, Jabr Muflihi 15th and John Aerts 20th.
The Legg Middle School girls were third. Legend Szafranski took 4th, Ezma Machan took 10th, and Kendyll Szafranski took 21st. The girls race was comprised of 139 runners.
