COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – There will be a third hearing for the Coldwater Historic District Commission about the former Gillespie Funeral Home.
Director of Community Affairs and Assistant City Manager Keith Baker told the Coldwater Downtown Development Authority on Wednesdaythat the administrative law judge for the Michigan State Housing Authority has ordered the Commission to reconsider it.
The board was short one member when it tied 3-3 in April on a motion to demolish the empty building so that current property holder Southern Michigan Bank and Trust could put in a park.
The judge felt the action was invalid because the Commission was short by one board member.
A date for the third meeting has not been scheduled yet.
Action by the Historic Commission may not be final. It could go back to the state or the matter could wind up in Branch County Circuit Court.
