COLDWATER. MI (WTVB) -The Coldwater Downtown Development Authority Board approved a request from the city on Wednesday to put in more downtown benches and garbage containers. Other downtown improvements approved include the addition of banners in front of the Tibbits Opera House and fixing all 69 of the decorative lamps posts.
All of the improvements would cost just under $16,000. Community Services Director and Assistant City Manager Keith Baker said they have been saving money for these items over the last couple of years.
The decorative benches and garbage containers would be similar to others around the city. In addition, Baker says the city wants to improve the appearance of the lamp posts.
The city is also interested in adding banners in front of the Tibbits Opera House and within the new parking lot to highlight Tibbits and create a festive atmosphere.
The D.D.A. board also approved a major asphalt maintenance project in the Randall parking lot and some minor repairs to the Milnes parking lot as a temporary measure until the proposed Centre Pointe Apartments project is approved. That work along with striping the Chandler parking lot would cost $36,000.
