DETROIT, MI (WTVB) – After starting the season 0-3, Jackson Lumen Christi completed a remarkable turnaround on Saturday as they captured the M.H.S.A.A. Division Seven State Football Championship with a 15-12 come-from-behind victory over Traverse City St. Francis.
The Titans trailed 12-0 entering the final quarter but came back thanks to a 18 yard touchdown by quarterback Joe Lathers and a two yard score by Derrick Walker.
It was Lumen Christi’s 12th state title and its first since 2018.
The win avenged a 42-35 loss to St. Francis in week two.
Lumen Christi is leaving the Interstate 8 after this school year and moving to the Detroit Catholic League.
