COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Sherwood man was given a prison sentence of between 19 months and 15 years on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after entering a no contest plea to a charge of second degree criminal sexual conduct.
54-year-old Daniel D. Collins entered into a plea agreement with Branch County Prosecutors on October 17, about a week before he was scheduled to go on trial.
In exchange for his plea, prosecutors dismissed a second count of second degree C.S.C. that was filed against him.
Collins must register with the State of Michigan as a sex offender and be monitored for the rest of his life.
Collins was arrested and charged following a Branch County Sheriff’s Department investigation into incidents involving a pair of girls under the age of 13 which according to court documents took place in Sherwood Township on March 12, 2021.
