JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – The Withington Stadium curse has been smashed. The Coldwater Cardinals returned to the scene Friday night where their dreams of playing at Ford Field ended last November and where they had suffered so many losses to Lumen Christi over the years. After a scoreless first quarter, Coldwater erupted for four second quarter touchdowns as they built a 27-8 halftime. Joey Severn scored the first three touchdowns. Sam Demeester scored from seven yards out just before halftime. Demeester scored the Cardinals only touchdown in the second half. He finished with 30 carries and 271 yards rushing for the night. The Coldwater ground game was simply unstoppable as they rushed for 437 yards. Severn also led the defense with six unassisted tackles. The Cardinals host Marshall next Thursday night.
