COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater dropped their season opening girls swim meet to Adrian 118-66 Wednesday night at the Dr. Robert W. Browne Aquatic but six new Coldwater school records were set.
Kordelia Ulrich broke the 200 Individual Medley and the 500 Freestyle records. Other records were broken by Jayda Kelly in the 100 Freestyle and Makinzie Groves in the 100 Breaststroke. The team of Kelly, Ulrich, Erica Rogers and Groves broke records in the 200 Freestyle and 200 Medley Relays.
Freshmen led the way for the girls dive team. Dannica Alling, Mae Blansit, and Emma Moore finished 2nd, 3rd, and 4th respectively.
The Coldwater girls swim again Saturday at the Lakeview High School Relays in Battle Creek.
—BOYS TENNIS—
Coldwater finished 2nd on Wednesday at the Holt Invitational. Holt won the meet with 21 points followed by Coldwater with 15, Willamston with 14 and DeWitt with 4.
Austin Butler and Porter Skidmore were flight champions at number 3 and number 4 singles respectively. Butler defeated Daniel O’Toole of Williamston 6-2, 4-6 and 10-2 in the super tiebreaker for the championship. Skidmore defeated Will Davis of Williamston 6-2, 6-3 for his championship.
Shane O’Grady finished in second place at #2 singles losing to Jake Gilman of Holt 6-1, 7-5. O’Grady won both of his matches against DeWitt and Williamston.
Also finishing runners-up was the third doubles team of Kyle Krzyzanski and Alec Keplinger. After defeating DeWitt and Williamston, Krzyzanski and Keplinger lost to the Holt doubles team of Jeremiah Wisdom and Willie Huynh 6-4, 6-3.
Coldwater will next play this Saturday at Sturgis against former conference rivals Sturgis and Battle Creek Lakeview. DeWitt will also be at Sturgis on Saturday.
Bronson won on their home courts as they defeated Bridgeman 4-3. No match details were provided.

Quincy dropped to 0-3 for the season as they lost to Marshall 8-0.
—FOOTBALL—
Due to not having enough players, there will be no freshmen football at Coldwater High School this season. The only underclassman game Thursday night at Cardinal Field will be the J.V. game between Jackson and Coldwater. The kickoff has been pushed back a half hour to 6:00pm since there is only one underclassman game.
