COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council will be asked on Monday night to place an offer on the table for 30 days concerning the purchase of land at 199 Orleans Blvd.
Coldwater Community Services Director and Assistant City Manager Keith Baker says the city has been approached by Oak Health Investors of Coldwater, which is doing business as the Laurels of Coldwater, to buy the property.
It was bought by the city through the state’s property tax foreclosure program and had previously been used as a location for a sign for the former Super 8 Motel. Taxes have not been paid on the property for three years.
Baker says the Laurels have been maintaining the property over the last couple of years and have talked about buying it.
An offer of over $1,500 has been made which Baker says will cover the city’s costs and return the property to private ownership.
Final action on the transaction would take place during the Council’s meeting on September 26th.
