BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Gas prices in Branch County continue to drop closer to the $3 a gallon mark and in a couple of cases, the price has gone below that figure.
The web site gasbuddy.com reported on Monday morning that prices in Branch County were ranging from $2.94 a gallon at a station on the west side of Quincy to $3.39 at a station in Kinderhook.
As of Monday morning, there were two Quincy area stations selling gas for less than $3 a gallon.
Triple-A Michigan reported on Monday the average price in Michigan had dropped 20 cents in the past week to $3.24 a gallon. That’s a drop of 85 cents in the last month and the average price is just four cents higher than last year at this time.
Experts cite dropping crude oil prices as one of the reasons why you are paying less at the pump these days.
After a barrel of crude oil sold for as much as $122 last June when gas prices were above $5 a gallon, the price as of Monday morning was down to $72 a barrel.
