COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Board of Public Utilities Board of Directors approved bids totaling over $3.3 million on Tuesday for the first phase of improvements to the utility’s wastewater treatment plant.
BPU Director Paul Beckhusen hopes Phase One will be finished next Spring since work can be done during the winter months.
He says the project will be managed by Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr and Huber through a construction management contract.
The bids were received on August 4th and the final cost with contingencies came in almost $1.3 million below the original engineering estimates.
The board also gave Beckhusen permission to award a bid of no more than $2.4 million for work at the BPU’s electric substation in order to speed up work on the project. If necessary, adjustments can be made at next months board meeting.
