COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Flood warnings were issued for northwestern Branch and St. Joseph Counties Tuesday morning by the National Weather Service after Doppler Radar indicated that between three to six inches of rain had fallen across the area. The Flood Warning is now in effect untl 2:00 p.m. Tuesda.y
This latest rain follows Friday night’s storm which saw some parts of southwest Michigan get around three inches of rain. Additional rainfall amounts were expected to be less than a quarter inch on Tuesday morning.
Extensive flooding was expected to continue Tuesday morning.
Some parts of northwest and north central Indiana reported nearly seven inches of rain.There were several reports of road closures, vehicle water rescues and flooded basements in the South Bend area.
While the rain was expected to diminish in intensity Tuesday morning, the potential for floods or flash floods will continue to be a concern.
Outside of some tree branches being knocked down, no major problems travel problems have been reported in Branch County.
