COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Bronson won the Coldwater Wrestling Classic on Saturday by winning all five of their matches. Union City managed to go 3-2 despite being shorthanded while Coldwater was 1-4. Bronson defeated Chelsea 48-24, Coldwater 61-15, St. Johns 57-24, Sturgis 65-3 and Union City 39-34. Going 5-0 on the day for Bronson were Perry Lake, Carson Norton, Jacob Britten and Jacob Dixon. Going 4-1 on the day were Gabe Erwin, Drew Seekman and Mathew Blakenship.
Besides the Bronson match, the Chargers defeated Sturgis 60-18; Chelsea 42-30 and Coldwater 53-18 but were beaten by St. Johns 42-36. Going 5-0 for the Chargers were Logan Mears, Landyn Crance, Aidan Taylor, Colton Russell, Maddox Miller and Grady Iobe. Mason Hawthorne went 4-1.
Coldwater’s win came on a tie breaker against Sturgis after the match ended in a 42-42 tie. Besides the matches against Bronson and Union City, the Cardinals were beaten by Chelsea 52-24 and St. Johns 47-33. Yahya Umari, Tre Miller and Maverick Johnson went 4-1. Umari Umari went 3-2.
