LANSING, MI (WJXQ) – The minimum wage in Michigan is now $10.10 an hour. The wage rose 23-cents on January 1 and the minimum wage for tipped workers has risen to $3.84.
The Legislature adopted and amended a petition initiative in 2018 to raise the minimum wage to $12.05 by 2030 instead of 2022 and kept the tipped minimum at 38-percent of the regular minimum instead of raising it to the same by 2024.
However, that battle is currently in court and the state’s minimum wages could rise to $13.03 per hour and $11.73 for tipped workers later this year if the challenge of the adopt-and-amend strategy succeeds.
