COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City of Coldwater Planning Commission approved four site plans including one for the proposed downtown Centre Pointe Apartment complex on Monday night.
Excel Realty was seeking preliminary approval for their site plan of a new 48 unit apartment building and the renovation of the former Taylor’s Stationers store at 60 West Chicago. They plan to put in 10 multiple family residential units in the building and have commercial space on the first floor.
Assistant City Manager Keith Baker said the developers plan to keep the appearance of the Taylor’s building.
In addition, the Planning Commission approved the site plan for the 107,000 square foot Schmitz Foam industrial facility at 188 Treat Avenue. Nearly 40 jobs will be created as Schmitz plans to establish its North American headquarters in Coldwater.
Two site plans from the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities for a new 21 acre electric utility substation on Jonesville Road and for a new 1,500 square foot municipal water booster station on Seeley Street were also approved.
