COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County voters will be asked on Tuesday to approve a 20 year millage to help fund the construction of a new county jail.
If approved, the millage would raise over $2.1 million in the first calendar year for the project which has a price tag of over $29 million.
Taxes on Branch County properties would be increased by 1.5 mills or by $1.50 for every $1,000 of taxable value if the millage is approved.
Voters in Bethel and Matteson Townships will be asked to approve millage proposals for fire protection and equipment.
Union Township voters will decide a millage proposal for maintenance and operation of the cemetery and for fire protection.
Voters in the Tekonsha School district will be asked to renew an operating millage for the next five years.
