Gerald “Butch” Paul Smith, Jr., 64, of Tekonsha, passed away Friday, January 6, 2023, at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall.
A visitation will be held Friday, January 13, 2023 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation, located at 1276 Tate Trail, Union City, MI 49094. Cremation will take place after the service.
Butch was born October, 11, 1958 in Coldwater to Gerald Sr. and Sharron (Keller) Smith. He attended Coldwater High School and received his diploma in 1977.
Butch was primarily a trucker who worked in the agricultural industry, but was know to work with many small businesses, even owning his own trucking company, Vaniti Trucking.
Butch was a member of Homer VFW Auxiliary 9411, He also attended the Burlington Church of God, he loved to attend the hot dog roasts. When he wasn’t working, Butch enjoyed camping, playing cards such as; Uno, Spades and Hand-in-Foot, going to the Butler Motor Speedway, tinkering with and fixing vehicles for friends and family, and riding around on his golfcart.
He loved his fur-babies, Bentley, Jeter, Tang, and Jack. If you knew Butch, you knew his wicked sense of humor.
Butch is survived by his children; James (Shannon) Smith of Union City, Ruby (Scott) Smith of Sherwood, Michael (Ashley) Schroll of Charlotte, Joy (Bobby) Smith of Sherwood, Vanessa Smith of Union City, Caitlin (Johnie) Smith of Tekonsha, his step-children; Mark (Tracey) Farkas of Tekonsha and Joe (Tishia) Farkas of Marshall, his mother Sharon Everett of Tekonsha, his siblings; Cheryl (Phil) Sullivan of Jackson, Diane (Bob) Ranger of Tekonsha, his brother-in-law Doug Nichols, many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and 2 great-grandchildren.
Butch is preceded by his father, Gerald Smith, Sr., his step-father Herbert Everett, and his siblings Carol Nichols and Eddie Everett.
