PLEASANT LAKE, IN (WTVB) One man was killed and another was critically injured Friday night when a car crashed into two trees near Pleasant Lake, Indiana.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department says 46-year-old Owen Myers of Pleasant Lake was traveling at a high rate of speed on Bellefountaine Road just west of Meridian Road at about 8:25pm when he lost control of his 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse.
The vehicle then went off the road and struck two trees on the passenger side.Myers was pronounced dead at the scene by the Steuben County Coroner’s Office.
A front seat passenger, 26-year-old Christopher Harman of Kunkle, Ohio, was ejected from the vehicle.
Harman was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne where at last report he was in critical condition.
The Sheriff’s Department says neither man wore their seat belts.
They got assistance from Angola and Hamilton Police, the Steuben County Coroner’s Office, Steuben County EMS and Steuben Township Fire/Rescue.
