COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – When the Clemens Food Group port processing facility begins operating, officials say it will be a state-of-the-art, ergonomic facility.
They plan to use automation to replace various manual processes that are typically found in a meat processing facility.
According to a news release that was issued on Friday, some of the equipment will include water jet systems that will be used high pressure water to cut boneless meats.
Automated scaling and sorting systems will also be used to assure products meet precise weight requirements.
Clemens Food Group is building a nearly 600,000 square-foot processing facility between Jonesville and Newton Roads.
The project is expected to generate nearly $300 million in private investment and create over 830 jobs.
Officials say they are on schedule to begin operating in the fall of 2017.
