COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch Intermediate School District Board of Education once again named John Schroll as board president during their organizational meeting on Wednesday. Ken Norton was named as the board vice president.
During the regular meeting, Schroll raised several questions and concerns about a state mandated policy covering evaluations of the district superintendent which was presented for its first reading on Wednesday.
Evaluations would include assessments of the Superintendents strengths and weaknesses as well as the working relationship between the Board and the Superintendent.
Student and staff handbooks were also approved for the upcoming school year. Vocational Educational Director Jamie Engle said the policy for absences was clarified. He said an automated system will be used to notify parents when a student is absent. Program Managers would be notified when a student has recorded a fourth absence.
The board also adopted the same tax rate levy for 2016-17 as the previous fiscal year.
