BARRY COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Barry County Prosecutor’s Office issued multiple charges on Wednesday, January 25 against a Marshall man who led police on a multi-county pursuit.
It all started the day before on Tuesday, January 24 when Michael Bilbrey was pursued by police after it was reported that he stole a Ford F-450 flatbed truck from a citizen in Calhoun County.
Police chased Bilbrey through Calhoun County, throughout Barry County and into the city of Charlotte in Eaton County where he was arrested. But not before driving towards several individuals, through red lights, stop signs, and over barriers and off the road, frightening many people in the process.
According to authorities, he also allegedly hit a citizen twice, causing damage to the person’s car and leaving the scene both times.
He was finally stopped when Eaton County Sheriff’s Deputies and a Sergeant used their patrol vehicles to disable the fleeing vehicle. One Eaton County Sheriff’s Deputy was injured in the incident and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Bilbrey was arraigned on Wednesday with bond set at $100,000 dollars, with a Probable Cause Conference on Thursday, February 2 in Hastings District Court. The Barry County Prosecutor’s Office now awaiting further investigation before deciding whether to issue additional charges against Bilbrey.
