COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Commission of Aging Board of Directors will make a request during Thursday’s Board of Commissioners work session to reopen the Burnside Center for small activities that would follow strict COVID-19 safety protocols.
The activities being proposed would have nearly a dozen COVID-19 protocols in place
The Burnside Center has been closed since March 16 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The C.O.A. Board reviewed information relating to the possibility of hosting activities at the senior center during their meeting on September 15.
The Board stated in their letter to the Commissioners that they take the guidance seriously and they feel keeping seniors safe from COVID-19 is a top priority.
But the board added they feel the need to consider the impact the pandemic and quarantine has had on the mental health of seniors as they are seeing the toll it takes on people who have been socially isolated for so long.
The Commissioners will be asked on Thursday to bring the request forward for formal action during next Tuesday’s meeting.
