COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council approved a two percent pay raise for City Manager Jeff Budd on Monday night. The pay increase will be retroactive to July 1, 2016. It follows Budd’s annual evaluation by members of the City Council which Mayor Tom Kramer summed up by saying it was “boringly outstanding”.
In other business, the Council along with Mayor Kramer regretfully accepted the resignation of Second Ward Councilperson Gretchen Ennis who had to step down when her husband got a job with the city. Citizens living in the Second Ward interested in filling the City Council vacancy are asked to contact Second Ward Councilman Chris Pierce at 279-9900 or piercecg@cbpu.com.
In light of last week’s incidents in Baton Rouge, Minneapolis and Dallas, and Monday’s shooting at the Berrien County Courthouse, Budd talked about the extensive training city police officers receive, particularly in dealing with minority populations, to assure that officers stay safe in the unlikely event of similar occurrences happening locally.
