COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Commissioners reaffirmed a motion during their work session on Thursday that they had made last January concerning a contract with the Police Officers Association of Michigan.
County Commissioner Jon Houtz said this follows a decision last week by the P.O.A.M. to withdraw an unfair labor practice complaint against the county.
The complaint centered around a courthouse security officer and a courthouse transportation officer after they had been members of the Governmental Employees Labor Council.
The motion stated that the two officers be moved to the P.O.A.M. and that they would have the same wages as their previous union. It went on to say that once the officers move to the P.O.A.M., the union can negotiate a wage increase for those positions.
