COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In order to close out a Community Development Block Grant that was awarded to Branch County in the fall of 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, a public hearing has been scheduled for Tuesday afternoon’s Branch County Board of Commissioners meeting.
Branch County Administrator Bud Norman told Commissioners during their work session last Thursday the grant ran from October 1, 2020 until December 31, 2020.
Branch County received grant funds through the CARES Act that were to be used to reimburse unexpected costs associated with COVID-19.
As part of the criteria, a resolution passed by Commissioners in October of 2020 says 15 percent of Branch County residents are considered to be below poverty as determined by the census data provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
