James Russell Coonce, 72, of Quincy, passed away Monday, February 20, 2023 at home surrounded by his family.
There will be no services or calling hours for James Russell Coonce at this time. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Quincy.
He was born June 21, 1950 in Coldwater to Guy and Willow (Miller) Coonce. James married Carolyn (Johnson) on February 17, 1988 and she survives.
James graduated from Quincy High School in 1968. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with “the hood”. James was a carpenter by trade but was so much more. Well known for his design and abilities, many of his clients, who became friends, were lifelong, and appreciated his skill and craftsmanship.
He was also a Ford enthusiast and loved attending car shows. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
In addition to his wife, Carolyn, James is survived by two daughters, Cary Coonce of Chicago, Il, Kathy (Gregory) Carr of Marshall; one sister, Martha Leskowyak of Fremont, IN; one brother, Tim (Joann) Coonce of Montgomery, MI; four grandchildren, Olivia, Sophia, Jack, Daniel and many beloved nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Bill Leskowyak.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the family or the American Cancer Society.
I’m am so sorry to hear this. I have so many great memories of Jimmy. Carol, you and family are in my thoughts and prayers.
