COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch Intermediate School District Board of Education approved the hiring of a part time truancy officer on Wednesday.
Superintendent Joe Lopez said Bill Heffner will work through a contract with Perry Personnel.
Lopez said he worked with Heffner during his team as the Quincy Superintendent. He added the district was starting small with the truancy officer but he felt it would be a big improvement over what has been done in the past.
Lopez says Heffner’s salary will not exceed $14,000 and the district will not pay social security or retirement benefits.
Business Manager Diane Shiery says the number of hours Heffner will work has not been finalized.
The board also approved 2016-2017 contracts for administrators, administrative assistants, certified staff and early education staff contracts.
