UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson Vikings won their first game of the 2020 season and claimed “The Shield” from Branch County rival Union City on Friday night as they defeated the Chargers 24-6 in Union City’s Homecoming game at Alumni Field.
After a scoreless first half, the Vikings scored a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter on a nine yard run by Jordan Shadix and a 21 yard touchdown pass from Shadix to Noah Houtz. Justin Blankenship scored a pair of two point conversions as the Vikings took a 16-0 halftime lead.
Union City got on the board on their opening possession of the second half on a three year touchdown by Brayton Mears. But Bronson managed to hang onto the lead and Blankenship sealed the deal with 2:50 left in the game as he scored nine yards out and tacked on his third two point conversion of the night.
