COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School gymnastics team had their final meet of the season Tuesday evening at the Cardinal gymnasium after their final regular season matchup against Tecumseh was canceled last week due to the inclement weather on what would have been Senior Night.
Even though the visiting team couldn’t make the trip, Coldwater decided to finish the season in high fashion by honoring their seniors with a mock competition and Senior Showcase. Each gymnast had the opportunity to show their family and fans their routines one last time before for the big Regional meet. The seniors were honored at the beginning of the competition. They shared their favorite memories from the season, their future plans, and offered advice to teammates.
The four seniors included four-year Varsity letter winner and Captain Randi Dudek. Dudek is a four-time all-conference gymnast, three-time all Region competitor, as well as an All-State individual. The senior leader has qualified as an individual in all four events at this weekend’s MHSAA Regional competition.
Teagan Rabideau is a first year gymnast, just coming out for the sport this year. She earned her spot in all four events in the lineup. She will be showcasing her vaulting skills at Saturday’s regional.
This year Coldwater had two foreign exchange students on their team. Klara – Sofie Bollmann is a senior from Denmark. The accomplished swimmer proved that she can also compete in the gym, not just when she swims. Bollmann also worked her way into the all-around lineup during the season and will compete for Coldwater this weekend on the vault and the beam.
Aroa Ramos – Galvez from Spain also joined the Cardinal gymnastics team. She became one of the team’s top balance beam competitors and recently on the bars too. Aroa will be using her focus and skills at the Regional on the bars.
The gymnasts will travel to Kenowa Hills for the postseason tournament with the competition beginning at 10:00 a.m. Competitors in two divisions will be vying for a chance to advance to the MHSAA State Finals competition the following weekend.
Gymnasts who finish in the top eight in each event will move on, as well as the top six gymnasts in the all-around, for each division.
