BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Sheriff’s Office say they have been alerted through a few local businesses and law enforcement agencies in Indiana and Ohio of a scam in which businesses are being targeted.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, there are people in the area that have been hitting stores with stolen credit card numbers.
They use a card with a bad strip and swipe it a number of times.
They then runs it manually only they do not use the card, they use a number off of their phone which is a stolen card number.
The Sheriff’s Department is telling local businesses to not let anyone add numbers manually during a transaction.
If there are questions about someone’s intentions, call 911 and ask for an officer.
