COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to accept the Area Agency on Aging’s multi-year implementation plan for 2017 through 2019 on Tuesday. A multi-year plan is put together every three years.
Laura Sutter from the Area Agency on Aging told commissioners during their work session last Thursday that one of their objectives is to re-establish an adult day care program.
Sutter pointed out Branch County’s population is rapidly aging. For the last 14 years there has been a 28 percent increase in the over 60 population while the general population has decreased three percent.
She says the agency will have their work cut out for them as over 21 percent of those 55 and older in the region are living in poverty.
