WHITE PIGEON, MI (WTVB) – A 28-year-old man from White Pigeon was arrested early Saturday morning after the Michigan State Police say he rammed a trooper’s car and tried to run him off the road during a pursuit in St. Joseph County’s Constantine Township.
Troopers say the chase started just before 3:00am when they tried to stop a vehicle for disregarding a stop sign and speeding.
The suspect’s vehicle was eventually disabled on Millers Mill Road near Maple Road.
The driver tried to get away on foot but was arrested a short distance away. A 25-year-old female passenger from Three Rivers was taken to the emergency room at Three Rivers Hospital for minor injuries.
The driver, whose name was not released pending an arraignment, was lodged for fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing, felonious assault and for driving while his license was suspended. He was also wanted on two outstanding warrants.
Troopers were assisted by the St. Joseph County Sheriff Department, police from White Pigeon and Constantine and Life Care EMS.
