BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Severe thunderstorms knocked down trees and power lines in parts of the area and dropped hail measuring up to an inch in diameter early Thursday morning.
A severe thunderstorm warning was issued at 2:15 a.m. for the southern part of Branch County as well as for Steuben and LaGrange Counties in Indiana for a storm which had 60 mile per hour wind gusts and quarter size hail.
Branch County Central Dispatch reports the County Road Commission had to be called in to remove trees that were knocked down on Southern and Adams Roads.
St. Joseph County was under two severe thunderstorm warnings during the early morning hours. National Weather Service observers in Burr Oak, Centreville and Mendon all reported downed trees and power lines while one inch hail was also reported at Mendon.
A National Weather Service observer in Angola reported hail three-quarters of an inch in diameter.
