COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Tibbits Opera House has received another award for the restoration of its façade.
The American Institute of Architects Michigan honored the Tibbits and fourteen other buildings this past Friday.
The Tibbits was recognized in the Building Category as Thomas Roberts Architect received honors as the architect on the project which was completed in 2013. Contractors were Owens-Ames-Kimball Company and Grand River Builders.
The building is owned and operated by Tibbits Opera Foundation & Arts Council, Incorporated.
Among the other awards presented to the Tibbits since the façade was restored were the Michigan Governor’s Award for Historic Preservation, North American Copper in Architecture Award, Associated Builders & Contractors Award for ‘Excellence in Historic Restoration,” Branch Area Chamber of Commerce Community Project Award, the Michigan Historic Preservation Network Gem Award, as well as the MHPN Community Support Award to the Coldwater community.
