COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Consumers Energy Community Affairs Manager Greg Moore told the Branch County Board of Commissioners during their work session on Thursday that the February 22 ice storm caused extensive damage for the utility.
Moore said in terms of costs it will be one of the most expensive storms in Consumers Energy history.
Moore said the utility did not live up to their standards and he apologized to customers who lost their power.
The ice storm caused nearly 6,600 Consumers Energy customers in Branch County to lose power.
Besides the ice storm, there has been some heavy rain along with snow run off. Drain Commissioner Mike Hard said they are dealing with some high water issues.
The MSU Extension Service weather station at the Bloom Dairy Farm has measured almost four inches of precipitation between February 22 and Thursday.
