COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School boys varsity soccer team held a 2-1 halftime lead, but rolled in the second half to a 6-2 win Saturday at home against Battle Creek Harper Creek in Interstate 8 Conference action.
The win improved the Cardinals record to 2-3 in the conference and 3-5 overall in this shortened season. The match also featured the debut of the Coldwater High School Marching Band performing at halftime.
Mukhtar Abdulla lead Coldwater with three goals, while Mohamed Nasser had two goals and one assist. Hashad Abdullah had the other goal and two assists, while Dillon Lawhead, Angel Rodriguez, and Eduardo Arroyo also had assists.
Michael Orozo-Aburto had one save in the win, as Coldwater outshot Harper Creek 16-4.
The Cardinals will host Pennfield for Senior Night in their regular season finale tonight, and then play Pennfield again in the opening round of districts Wednesday afternoon.
The Coldwater junior varsity team beat Grand Ledge 3-2 Saturday afternoon.
