COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In high school baseball, the Coldwater Cardinals prepared for this Saturday’s Division Two Regional tournament at Stevensville-Lakeshore on Tuesday night by sweeping Jackson Lumen Christi in a doubleheader at Lowe Field by scores of 7-6 and 5-0. Coldwater is 31-9 following the doubleheader sweep.
The victory in the opener was the 600th career coaching win for Coldwater coach Randy Spangler. Austin Krzeminski belted his 11th homer of the season in the first game which ties him with Kevin Watson for the school single-season home run record. Krezminski drove in three runs and earned the save while Kameron Miller had three hits and Brendan Spangler had two hits and two RBI’s. Lucas Santure was credited with the win as he came on in relief in the top of the sixth and Coldwater scored two runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead.
Santure, Cameron Barnes and Mitchell Duda combined on a four-hitter in the nightcap. Barnes got credit for the win. Spangler had two doubles and two RBI’s. Eric Bach also drove in two runs. Bach and Sean Printke both had two hits.
The Cardinals will face Niles at 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning in the Division Two Regional semifinals at Stevensville-Lakeshore. The winner plays either Sturgis or South Haven for the regional title at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
